Set the timezone on CentOS and Redhat

This is a simple one-liner to set the timezone on a CentOS or Redhat server. In this case i am in Adelaide, Australia.

cp /usr/share/zoneinfo/Australia/Adelaide /etc/localtime

Confirm the copy (is asked) and run ‘date’ to see the correct time.
